1. Summary

1.1. The following decisions are sought:

That Councillor Mrs P. Dickens be appointed as the County Council's representative to serve on the National Bus Lane Adjudication Service Joint Committee until the annual meeting of the Council in May 2009.

2. Reason

2.1. To ensure that the County Council is fully represented in the development of new partnership working arrangements, agreed on the basis decided by the Executive Member on 28 February 2006. Councillor Mrs Dickens is already the County Council's representative on the National Parking Adjudication Service Joint Committee, a similar partnership arrangement for which Manchester City Council is again the lead Authority. It would therefore make sense for her to be the County Council's representative on both.

3. Other Options considered and rejected

3.1. The County Council not being represented, which would lead to a loss of influence and reduced access to best practice on bus lane enforcement.

3.2 As this is a first time appointment the Leader of the Council has been consulted

and agrees the proposal.
