1. Summary
1.1 The following decision is sought:
That the proposed sub-programmes for countryside access be approved and that the Executive Member for Recreation and Heritage recommends to the Executive Member for Environment: South Hampshire and Resource Management, that this sub-programme for countryside access be adopted.
2. Reason
2.1 This decision supports:
(ii) Aim 4 (Building Strong and Safe Communities) by reducing road casualties; and
(iii) Aim 5 (Improving services) by enhancing the countryside facilities and improving roads and the environment for road users.
3. Other Options Considered and Rejected
3.1 For countryside access this initial programme has been selected to provide demonstrable improvements which affect large numbers of people positively across the county. Alternative larger or more remote schemes affecting fewer people have generally been rejected.
