1 Summary
1.1 The report identifies the youth organisations applying for Project Development Grants with the recommendation of the County Youth Officer. The paper is to be considered by the Executive Member for Children's Services on 25 May 2006 due to the fact that both applicants require funding for projects that take place before the next Youth Panel meeting on 20 July and recommends the Executive Member for Children's Services allocate grants totalling £6,250.
1.2 Supporting voluntary sector youth organisations through Project Development grants extends the capacity of the voluntary sector to increase delivery of effective youth work and supports Corporate Strategy Aim 1, Maximising life opportunities and Corporate Strategy Aim 4, building strong and safe communities, as well enabling voluntary organisations to work towards the five outcomes of Every Child Matters by encouraging young people to stay safe, be healthy, enjoy and achieve, make a positive contribution and achieve economic well being.
2 Acknowledgements
2.1 Acknowledgements and thanks received from recipients of grants made at the last meeting of the panel on the 16 March 2006 will be listed on the paper for the next Youth Panel meeting on 20 July 2006.

4 Impact Assessment
4.1 No adverse impact on race or equality has been identified in the development of this proposal.
5 Personnel implications
5.1 No personnel implications have been identified for County Council staff. However, the recommendations may lead to a greater security in funding within the voluntary sector and may lead to increased employment.
6 Financial implications
6.1 No additional financial implications have been identified with this proposal.
7 Crime Prevention Issues
7.1 It has been demonstrated that good youth work reduces the likelihood of some young people being involved in crime. These recommendations will lead to improving partnerships between those involved in youth work by supporting a range of positive opportunities for young people.
8 Recommendation
That it be a RECOMMENDATION to the Executive Lead Member for Children's Services:
That the grant allocations summarised below totalling £6,250 be approved.
