Summary

1.1

The following decision is sought:

That the Executive Member for Children's Services approves the internal refurbishment project at the Oak Meadow Early Years Centre, at an estimated cost of up to £300,000, excluding fees.

Reason

2.1

To create a self-contained nursery unit (including crèche, toddlers' room, pre-school areas, staff room, laundry, toilet accommodation and baby area) and new external garden area.

2.2

This decision supports Aim 1 and 5 of the Corporate Strategy by providing improved facilities which will benefit all users of the centre.

Other options considered and rejected

3.1

The need of the family centre for the facilities in question has been identified as a priority and the works set out in the report are considered to be the most appropriate and cost effective way of meeting that need.
