1. Summary
1.1 The report puts forward programmes for use of the allocations for Rail Stations and Interchanges, Public Transport Information and Air Quality within the 2006/07 Integrated Transport Capital Programme.
1.2 The following decision is sought:
That the proposed sub-programmes for Rail Stations and Interchanges, Public Transport Information and Air Quality be approved.
2. Reason
2.1 This decision supports Aim 1 of the Corporate Strategy (maximising life opportunities) by improving information and facilities for people wishing to use public transport.
2.2 It supports Aim 2 (stewardship of the environment) by promoting the use of public transport as an alternative to increased car use and by improving air quality.
2.3 It supports Aim 3 (achieving economic prosperity) through providing improved information and facilities to allow access to jobs and business.
2.4 It supports Aim 4 (building strong and safe communities) as it helps make people feel informed and the air quality monitoring can assist the promotion of health and well being.
2.5 It supports Aim 5 (improving services) particularly at interchanges and through improved information.
3. Other Options Considered and Rejected
3.1 There are other potential investment sites for the resources available but these are considered to have a lower priority than the sites and actions chosen in terms of benefits towards the County Council's targets and wider objectives.
