Flora Twort: Hampshire County Council's role in its future ownership and management

1. Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought:

That the Director of Recreation and Heritage be authorised to negotiate arrangements for the future ownership and management of the Flora Twort Gallery with interested parties on the basis detailed in the report.

2. Reason

2.1 Hampshire County Council's agreement with the current managers of the Flora Twort Gallery is coming to an end in 2008, and the Museums and Archives Service needs to consider the most appropriate ownership and management options for the Gallery.

2.2 This Decision contributes to Corporate Aim 5 (Improving services) by ensuring that the Gallery will continue to provide a good service.

3. Other Options Considered and Rejected.

3.1 To allow the current managers to sell on their interest in Flora Twort, thereby committing HCC to manage Flora Twort in this way for the future.

None.

5. Dispensation by the Standards Committee
