1. Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought:

That the establishment of a Member Working Group to assist in the ongoing review of construction related procurement within the Environment Department be deferred pending further discussions concerning the outcomes of the democratic review.

1.2 This report was considered by the Buildings, Land and Procurement Panel on 11 July 2006.

2. Reason

2.1 This decision supports Aim 5 (Improving Services) of the Corporate Strategy by involving closer working and collaboration with the construction industry, which is instrumental in driving continuous improvement into the County Council's services.

3. Other Options Considered and Rejected

3.1 Not to undertake the review, which would preclude the opportunity to make potential efficiency savings.
