Summary

1.1

The following decision is sought:

That, subject to the views of the Executive Member for Education, the design project appraisal for a replacement Education Centre, at an estimated cost of up to £4,963,074, excluding fees, be approved.

Reason

2.1

To provide a replacement for the Woodlands Education Centre in Waterlooville, which was destroyed by fire in 2002 and is currently accommodated in temporary buildings.

2.2

This decision supports Aim 1 and 5 of the Corporate Strategy by providing improved facilities which will benefit all users of the school.

Other options considered and rejected

3.1

The need for the facilities in question has been identified as a priority and the works set out in the design project appraisal are considered to be the most appropriate and cost effective way of meeting that need.
