AT A MEETING of the APPOINTMENTS PANEL of the COUNTY COUNCIL held at The Castle, Winchester on 21 and 31 July 2006

1 APOLOGIES FOR ABSENCE

No apologies were received.

2 DECLARATIONS OF INTEREST

Members were mindful that, where they believed they had a personal or a personal prejudicial interest in any matter to be considered at the meeting should declare their personal interest and having regard to the circumstances described in paragraphs 9, 10, 11 and 12 of the County Council's Code of Conduct, consider whether to leave the meeting whilst the matter was discussed. No declarations of interests were received.

3 APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRMAN

RESOLVED:

That Councillor T.K. Thornber, CBE be appointed Chairman of the Panel.

4 EXCLUSION OF THE PRESS AND PUBLIC

RESOLVED:

That, but virtue of paragraph 1 of Part 1 of Schedule 12A of the Local Government Act 1972 the press and public be excluded from the meeting.

5 APPOINTMENT OF ASSISTANT DIRECTORS OF ADULT SERVICES

The Panel considered the confidential details of short-listed candidates for the three posts of Assistant Directors of Adult Services. They received a presentation from the Recruitment Consultant. After full consideration it was

RESOLVED:

That:

(a) The post of Assistant Director Business and Performance be offered to Mr. Michael Lee.


(b) The post of Assistant Director Commissioning and In-House Services be offered to Mr. Richard Ellis.


(c) No appointment be made for the post of Assistant Director Local and Community Services.
