1 Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought:

    1. That funding of £0.065m from the provision in the 2006/07 capital programme for 14-19 projects be allocated as a contribution to the costs of a scheme at Crookhorn College of Technology, Purbrook for a specialist ICT facility.

2 Reason

2.1 Crookhorn College of Technology is proposing to provide a specialist ICT facility that will allow the college to deliver two vocational courses, Applied Business and Health and Social Care. These courses will be available to all other local secondary schools. The proposal has been discussed with officers and is fully consistent with 14-19 initiatives in this area of the county.

2.2 The estimated cost of the scheme is £0.165m. The college is contributing £0.100m and it is proposed to support the project by allocating the remaining £0.065m from the provision in the capital programme for 14-19 projects.

2.3 This decision supports Aim 1 of the Corporate Strategy (Maximising life opportunities) by proposing an allocation of funding to improve the learning environment in a Hampshire school.
