Local Bus Service 73 Petersfield - Bordon

Report of the Director of Environment

Item 8

Contact: John Mariner, ext 6922 email: [email protected]

1. Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought:

That from 1 September 2006 to 31 March 2007 funding for experimental service 73 Petersfield-Bordon be continued at £2.50 per passenger journey, with the remaining subsidy provided by East Hampshire District Council, in order to complete the Bordon/Whitehill Local Area Agreement Accessibility Pilot project.

2. Reason

2.1 This decision will enable the current experimental service to continue until the end of the 2005/06 financial year.

2.2 This decision supports Aim 1 (Maximising Life Opportunities) of the Corporate Strategy by providing support for public transport services for people to access employment, education, shopping and medical facilities.

3. Other Options Considered and Rejected

3.1 Withdrawal of funding from the experiment was considered. However, the area review process, an Accessibility Pilot Study for Bordon/Whitehill, financial support from East Hampshire District Council and recently introduced free travel for the over 60s and disabled are all reasons for continuing the experiment for a further period.

4. Conflicts of Interest Declared by the Decision Maker or Other Executive Member Consulted - None.

5. Dispensation granted by the Standards Committee - Not applicable.

6. Reason(s) for the Matter being dealt with if Urgent - Not applicable.
