1. Summary
1.1 The following decision is sought:
That the Project Appraisal for the construction of pedestrian access improvements at Brighton Hill, Basingstoke, to be externally funded at an estimated cost of £400,000, be approved.
2. Reason
2.1 This decision supports Aims 2, 3, 4 and 5 (Stewardship of the Environment, Achieving Economic Prosperity, Building Strong and Safe Communities and Improving Services) of the Corporate Strategy by providing new and improved footways in Brighton Hill, Basingstoke. This will encourage walking as a sustainable form of travel and promote the health and wellbeing of local residents and workers. The developer of the Kempshott Park residential area has funded this proposal.
3. Other Options Considered and Rejected
3.1 The option to do nothing would not address the needs of the local community. The scale of the works proposed will allow the effects of this form of investment to be assessed before decisions are taken on further use of external funding in the area.
4. Conflicts of Interest Declared by the Decision Maker or other Executive Member Consulted - None.
5. Dispensation granted by the Standards Committee - Not applicable.
6. Reason(s) for the Matter being dealt with if Urgent - Not applicable.
