Bridgemary Community Sports College, Gosport - establishment of a 14-19 vocational centre

Notice is hereby given in accordance with section 28(2) of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998 that The Governing Body of Bridgemary Community Sports College intend to make a prescribed alteration to Bridgemary Community School, Wych Lane, Bridgemary, Gosport, Hampshire, PO13 0JN by changing the age range of the school by the addition of a sixth form for up to 180 students from 1 September 2007.

This proposal is for the establishment of a Vocational Centre at Bridgemary Community Sports College, to provide opportunities for students of this age group that are not currently available in the Gosport area. The centre will eventually offer opportunities for up to 180 learners, starting in September 2007. This will not compete with traditional sixth form courses offered by local schools and colleges.

The current age range of the school is 11 years to 16 years.

The proposed age range will be 11 years to 19 years.

The number of pupils to be admitted to the school at age 11 from 1 September 2007 and subsequent years will be 240.

Within one month after the date of publication of these proposals, any person may object to or make comments on the proposals by sending the representations to Mrs Karen Widdowson, Secretary to the School Organisation Committee, Chief Executive's Department, The Castle, Winchester, Hampshire SO23 8UJ, to arrive not later than 5.00pm on 24 July 2006.
