Summary

1.1

The following decision is sought:

That the Executive Member for Education advises the Executive Member for Policy and Resources that the design project appraisal for extension and relocation/refurbishment works, at an estimated cost of up to £556,000, excluding fees, be approved.

Reason

2.1

To provide permanent, purpose-built teaching accommodation, accessible front entrance, head teacher's office, relocated reception and administrative facilities and an ICT suite within an existing space. The scheme facilitates the removal from site of a temporary building which is currently used for teaching purposes.

2.2

This decision reflects the priorities in the Corporate Strategy by replacing a temporary building with purpose-built accommodation that will enhance the quality of place for all users of Burghclere Primary School.

3.1

The need for the facilities in question has been identified as a priority and the works set out in the design project appraisal are considered to be the most appropriate and cost effective way of meeting that need.
