Suggested updated text to take account of the adoption of the Basingstoke and Deane Local Plan 1996-2011 in July 2006.

East Hampshire District Council

Suggested revision to text to take account of the adoption of the District Local Plan in March 2006.

Expresses hope that the plan will be made available to a wide audience rather than only being an internal county council document.

Amendments made to text on page 34. Confirmed that the plan will be available widely.

Transport Policy Unit, Environment Department

Supports the proposals regarding the location of new schools or extensions to existing schools. Suggested adding a reference to the role of the School Travel Planning Team working with schools.

Test Valley Borough Council

Suggested revisions to text to take account of the adoption of the Test Valley Borough Local Plan in June 2006, and updated proposals for the Major Development Area.

Winchester City Council

References to primary school precision to serve Whiteley should be amended to reflect changes since the draft was prepared.

Eastleigh Borough Council

Suggested revisions to text to clarify the position concerning the major development area, and an increase in the number of dwellings expected on the Pirelli phase 2 site.

Fareham Borough Council

The Borough Council requests the County Council to:

a) refer to the latest position in relation to primary school to serve Whiteley in the text of the final SPP;

b) jointly with the Borough Council and Winchester City Council, carry out an urgent appraisal of the potential sites for a new primary school for Whiteley, including an appraisal of potential sites within the area of the potential urban extension to the north of Whiteley;

c) investigate any necessary improvements to the existing primary schools closest to Whiteley to accommodate pupils from Whiteley, pending the provision of the new Whiteley Primary School; and

d) explore options for the provision of an additional secondary school to serve the Whiteley area, in conjunction with further work on the South Hampshire Strategy by the Partnership for Urban South Hampshire and Winchester City Council.

This will be undertaken as part of the ongoing discussion with the Borough and City Councils.
