Members Web Pages - Acceptable Use Policy

Report of the Head of Corporate and Legal Services and Monitoring Officer

Contact: Jeff Pattison, 01962 847321 [email protected]

1 Introduction

1.1 The Members' Web Pages are part of the Councillor information site which is maintained by Hampshire County Council: http://www3.hants.gov.uk/yourcountycouncillors

1.2 Hampshire County Council's Members Web Pages are for Councillors to include information about their roles as a Hampshire County Councillor only but Councillors are permitted to link to external sites.

1.3 Each Councillor will be given the opportunity to publish to Hantsweb, within their own pages, information about themselves, what events they have coming up and information about what they do in their role as a County Councillor.

2 The Acceptable Use Policy (AUP)

2.1 The AUP (appendix 1) explains what material must NOT be posted on these pages. It has been written to protect the County Council against libel action. County Councillors will be expected to sign up to the AUP if they want to be able to use the facility to edit their own web pages. The AUP will be a document available for the public to view. Therefore, if the public feels the AUP has been breached in any way they are able to make a complaint via the standard complaints procedure

2.2 A draft version of this AUP was used during the pilot period for this facility. The Councillors on this pilot (7 cross party Councillors) were content with the draft version of the AUP.

3 Recommendation

3.1 That the Acceptable Use Policy attached as an appendix to this report be adopted.
