Authority to Invite Tender Services for People with a Learning Disability

Summary

1.1

The following decision is sought:

To invite tenders for a domiciliary care service for people with a learning disability in the Havant and Fareham areas.

Reasons

2.1

This scheme will impact on the delivery of the following Corporate Aims:

Maximising wellbeing through the promotion of social inclusion, access to community resources and support according to individual needs.

2.2

The service specifically supports the Valuing People agenda and the objectives outlined in the Independence, Well Being and Choice White Paper and also meets the following key Government Performance Indicator, viz:

C30 - adults with learning disabilities helped to live at home (investing to prevent people needing more services)

C28 - caring for people in home settings rather than residential care

Other options considered and rejected

3.1

Single Tender negotiation. Discounted as tendering for these services is considered the most cost effective means of procuring the services concerned, encouraging and developing the local market place and providing continuity of services to young people with complex needs.
