Chineham Lane Local Park: Project Appraisal

Summary

1.1

The following decision is sought:

That the Executive Member (Policy & Resources) approves the project appraisal for the Chineham Lane Local Park, at an estimated cost of £255,000 excluding fees and VAT.

Reasons

2.1

This report concerns the provision of new public open space facilities within the Merton Rise development, and will enhance the quality of space and maximise wellbeing by ensuring that a well-planned open space is provided to serve the new community early in the development process.

Other options considered and rejected

3.1

These works could be undertaken by either of the selected parcel developers for Merton Rise Phase 1, but the interdependence of the delivery of this space and restrictions under the outline planning consent for the wider site make it appropriate for the County Council to undertake these works instead. In so doing, the County Council also has the opportunity to manage the quality of delivery of this space more directly.
