1. Summary
1.1 The following decision is sought:
That the Project Appraisal for the construction of a controlled Toucan crossing on the westbound on-slip road at the Delme Arms roundabout Fareham, to be externally funded at an estimated cost of £100,000, be approved.
2. Reason
2.1 This scheme will improve the safety of pedestrians and cyclists wishing to cross the busy slip roads to Fareham town centre from the A27, Portchester and Cams Hill School.
3. Other Options Considered and Rejected
3.1 To do nothing was considered and rejected as this would not improve the situation for cyclists and pedestrians.
3.2 To reduce the carriageway width without signals was considered but rejected as it would not prevent the type of accident that occurred recently.
4. Conflicts of Interest Declared by the Decision Maker or Other Executive Member Consulted - None.
5. Dispensation granted by the Standards Committee - None.
6. Reason(s) for the Matter being dealt with if Urgent - None.
