Year 2 of a 3 year award

In 2005/06 Hampshire Athletics Association, through its partnership development group, have engaged 1,676 people in athletics activities of which 265 have moved into a club environment. 4 clubs were supported to achieve club accreditation and 1 has been successful so far. 24 coaches and 70 officials followed an education programme and over 100 young people took part in 3 County Performance squads. In 2006/07, the Association intends to increase participation once more, support 6 clubs to achieve clubmark and 24 coaches to follow an education programme and develop a new forum for athletics. Finally, 3 squads involving over 100 young people will develop Hampshire's talented athletes.

Hockey is another priority sport in the Sport Hampshire & IOW Partnership Strategy and needs to secure a further £3,000 to complete its budget to deliver its annual plan in 2006/07. The plan will provide training and mentoring to young people, increase the number of qualified coaches, particularly at Level 2, assist clubs to achieve club accreditation, improve competitive opportunities for young people and provide assessment and development centres. A Hockey Development Officer will assist with the delivery of the association's plan.
