REPORT OF THE
Cabinet / Leader
PART II
THE HORRILL CENTRE, DIBDEN
On 31 October 2006 the Executive Member for Policy and Resources approved a project
appraisal for the proposed Horrill Centre, a purpose-built Adult Services Well-being and Day
Opportunities Centre on land owned by New Forest District Council as part of a joint development project involving the County Council.
This purpose-built Centre will be a well-being and day opportunities centre, rather than a traditional day centre, ensuring older people and other adult social service users are not excluded from continuing to reach their optimum independence with the support of family, friends and the wider community. The centre will be the first in Hampshire providing services directly related to the Adult Social Services modernisation plan.
The centre will provide a range of high quality spaces that can accommodate a range of activities in a flexible way. These will be supported by modern kitchen and hygiene provision. The building will have its own private garden onto which many of the rooms open, giving the opportunity for outside activities in fine weather and good views all year round.
It is anticipated that the proposed new centre will accommodate an enhanced service and level of provision to that in the existing Cussens Centre. It's anticipated that work will commence on site during June 2007 and be completed during January 2008.
