SHEPHERDS SPRING INFANT AND JUNIOR SCHOOLS, ANDOVER

PROPOSED CLOSURE

1. Notice is hereby given, in accordance with section 29 of the School Standards and Framework Act 1998, that Hampshire County Council, being the Local Education Authority, intends to discontinue Shepherds Spring Infant School and Shepherds Spring Junior School, at Smannell Road, Andover, in the Borough of Test Valley, with effect from 31 August 2008.

2. In order to achieve these intentions it is proposed that Shepherds Spring Infant and Junior Schools will close at the end of the Summer Term 2008. Places will be available for pupils affected by this closure, who are not due to transfer to secondary school in September 2008, at Knights Enham Infant and Junior Schools, Roman Way Primary School and other local schools. Parental wishes will be taken into account, subject to places being available at the preferred schools. It will not be necessary to provide additional accommodation at other schools as a consequence of these proposals. Transport to other schools will be provided for pupils who qualify in accordance with the Local Education Authority's published policy.

3. Any person may object to, or comment on, these proposals within the period of six weeks from the date of publication of this notice. Objections or comments should be in writing and addressed to Ian Lawson, Children's Services Department, Hampshire County Council, The Castle, Winchester, Hampshire SO23 8UG to arrive no later than 5 pm on 13 October 2006. Any objections or comments received, and not subsequently withdrawn in writing, together with the Local Education Authority's observations on them, will be submitted to the School Organisation Committee for Hampshire within one month after the closing date for representations.
