1. Summary

1.1 The following decisions are sought:

      (i) That the Project Appraisal for the package of pedestrian and traffic calming improvements for Kingsclere, at an estimated cost of £86,000, be approved.

      (ii) That, subject to approval of this Project Appraisal, the Environment Capital Programme be revised at the January 2007 decision day to reflect the increased project costs from £60,000 to £86,000.

2. Reason

2.1 This scheme provides for the long standing aim of the local community of reducing the risk to pedestrians in crossing at several specific locations in the village, together with providing a footway and reducing vehicle speeds in Swan Street.

3. Other Options Considered and Rejected

3.1 The scheme has evolved in consultation with the Parish Council and has been modified in consultation with residents. No other options are considered to be appropriate.
