Decommissioning of School Crossing Patrol Site - Abbotswood Junior School, Totton | |||

The decision on this item was deferred, probably until Councillor Kendal's decision day on 27 February 2007. The Executive Member for Environment was at this stage minded to make the decision that the school crossing patrol service for A336 Ringwood Road, Totton should be decommissioned and removed from the list of active school crossing patrol sites in Hampshire, but to reserve his position from the further investigations with the Police as to questions of speeding traffic in the vicinity of the pelican crossing. Specific issues identified as needing more information or evidence were:
· The general question of speeding traffic in the area and any evidence from speed cameras.
· Vehicles jumping the red traffic lights.
· The reliability of the pelican crossing lights and what evidence there is of how often they fail.
· Possible visibility/infrastructure improvements near to the pelican crossing, for example to deter parking on footway.
