1. Summary
1.1 The purpose of this report is to provide an update of the progress made in implementing those schemes in the Children's Services Capital Programme with a value of between £43,000 and £216,000 (exclusive of fees).
1.2 The schemes within this report generally reflect the priorities in the Corporate Strategy by maximising the safety and accessibility of all users of the premises and enhancing the quality of place.
2. Current Position
2.1 The attached tables summarise the current position in relation to schemes funded by the Children's Service 2005/06 and 2006/07 Capital Programme including Minor Works, Seed Challenge, William Price Trust, Schools Access Initiative (SAI), New Opportunities Fund (NOF) and Staff Workplaces budget. The tables provide details of the funding, a brief description of the works and a summary of the current position.
3. Schools Access Initiative (SAI) 2006/07
3.1 Eling Infant School, Totton
An allocation of £50,000, excluding fees, has been made in the Education Capital Programme 2006/07 (SAI) for works to provide a hygiene room within an existing area. It is anticipated that the scheme will commence on site during December 2006 and complete during March 2007.
4. NDS Modernisation 2006/07
4.1 Brune Park Secondary School, Gosport
An allocation of £70,000, excluding fees, has been made in the Education Capital Programme 2006/07 (NDS Modernisation) for works to refurbish an existing food technology area. The school is contributing £30,000 of devolved capital towards the cost of the works. It is anticipated that works will commence on site during April 2007 and complete during June 2007.
4.2 The Connaught School, Aldershot
An allocation of £70,000, excluding fees, has been made in the Education Capital Programme 2006/07 (NDS Modernisation) for works to refurbish an existing food technology area. The School is making a contribution of £25,000 devolved capital. The works are to be procured through a framework contractor. It is anticipated that the scheme will start on site during July 2007 and complete during September 2007.
4.3 The Quilley School of Engineering, Eastleigh
An allocation of £70,000, excluding fees, has been made in the Education Capital Programme 2006/07 (NDS Modernisation) for works to refurbish an existing food technology area. The School is making a contribution of £25,000 devolved capital. It is anticipated that the works will be carried out during April 2007.
Recommendation
1. That the changes to the minor works programme be approved.
