1. Summary
1.1 The purpose of this report is to provide an update of the progress made in implementing those schemes in the Children's Services Capital Programme with a value of between £43,000 and £216,000 (exclusive of fees).
1.2 The schemes within this report generally reflect the priorities in the Corporate Strategy by maximising the safety and accessibility of all users of the premises and enhancing the quality of place.
2. Current Position
2.1 The attached tables summarise the current position in relation to schemes funded by the Children's Service 2006/07 and 2007/08 Capital Programme including Minor Works, Security Funding, Schools Access Initiative (SAI), Specialist College Status funding, NDS Modernisation and Staff Workplaces budget. The tables provide details of the funding, a brief description of the works and a summary of the current position.
3. Minor Works Capital Programme 2006/07
3.1 Horndean Technology College
An allocation of £146,552, excluding fees, has been allocated from the Children's Services Capital Programme 2006/07. The college have made a contribution of £68,103, excluding fees, giving a total of £214,655 for the proposed refurbishment scheme.
An existing internal area is to be refurbished to form a vocational training facility. It is anticipated that the works will commence on site during March 2007 and be completed during September 2007.
4. NDS Modernisation 2007/08
4.1 Calthorpe Park School, Fleet
An allocation of £140,000, excluding fees, has been made in the Education Capital Programme (NDS Modernisation 07/08) which together with a contribution from the school of £50,000 devolved capital, will fund works to refurbish two science laboratories.
It is proposed to procure the scheme with an SME framework contractor and works are anticipated to commence on site during July 2007 and complete during September 2007.
4.2 Thornden Community School, Chandler's Ford
An allocation of £70,000, excluding fees, has been made in the Education Capital Programme (NDS Modernisation 07/08) which together with a contribution from the school of £78,000, excluding fees, of devolved capital will fund works to refurbish two science laboratories.
It is proposed to procure the scheme with an SME framework contractor and works are anticipated to commence on site during June 2007 and complete during August 2007.
Recommendation
1. That the changes to the minor works programme be approved.
