Hampshire County Council Executive Member for Education 18 January 2007 Self-funded and Partially Self-funded schemes Report of the Director of Property, Business and Regulatory Services |
Contact: Steve Clow Ext: 7858 e-mail: [email protected]
1. Introduction
1.1 Self-funded and partially self-funded schemes are developed as a result of a request from the School Governors to provide additional accommodation or facilities, which can be funded from their budget. The Director of Property, Business and Regulatory Services in each case develops designs and specifications to current County Council standards in accordance with the requirements of the Building Regulations and the space guidelines of the DfES notwithstanding the fact that these schemes are not always about satisfying basic need. It should be noted that contracts will not be let without confirmation that funding is available and the County Treasurer and the Director of Children's Services will be consulted regarding the schools having sufficient funding to carry out the works outlined in this project.
1.2 The schemes within this report generally reflect the priorities in the Corporate Strategy by maximising the safety and accessibility of all users of the premises and enhancing the quality of place.
2. The Schemes
2.1 The schemes have been developed in consultation with the Headteacher and Governors of the schools. The attached table summarises the current position in relation to each of these schemes, gives details of the funding, and a brief description of the scheme. Each of the schemes in this report is valued between £43,000 and £216,000 (exclusive of fees).
Recommendation
1. That the projects being reported in the Self-funded and Partially Self funded schemes report be approved.
