PART II
IT SYSTEMS TO SUPPORT NURSING HOMES
1. The Executive Member has approved the use of the Saturn IT system for resident care management, home management and staff management on desktop personal computers in Nursing Homes from March 2007, it is not the most expensive option but the best compromise between having up to date systems and financial recovery. It will enable Hampshire to help provide the best care as it allows for consistent operation and practice across all nursing homes and will support the Corporate Strategy aim of enhancing quality of place.
2. The installation of the system will be incorporated into the financial recovery plan giving a saving of £200,000 over the next two financial years
3. The Saturn system is currently in use at all nursing homes for resident administration which enables the standard recording and reporting for a range operational and management purposes. It has been trailed by nursing staff during the past year for diary notes, assessments and care plans at Marfield in Alton which, at full capacity, has 40 nursing beds.
