1. Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought:

That the School Crossing Patrol service for the A336 Ringwood Road, Totton, New Forest District be de-commissioned and removed from the list of `active' School Crossing Patrol sites in Hampshire.

2. Reason

2.1 This decision will enable those crossing the A336 Ringwood Road to do so safely and to make the most efficient use of available resources within the County Council's School Crossing Patrol service.

3. Other Options Considered and Rejected

3.1 Not to de-commission the crossing patrol service at this site and to seek a replacement school crossing patrol officer to operate at this signal controlled crossing location. This option was rejected as detailed analysis of the site, prevailing traffic conditions, particularly vehicle speeds, and implemented infrastructure improvements have led to the conclusion that the signal controlled crossing facility offers an appropriate crossing service at this location.
