Summary |
1.1 |
As part of the BV Review of operations at Workshops, we conducted a comparison of costs by having 2 vehicles fully fitted out at build stage by our supplier, Emergency One. |
1.2 |
On receipt of the vehicles (one WrL and one WrT) we conducted a detailed examination of the stowage designs chosen by Emergency One in comparison with HFRS Workshops design. |
1.3 |
This comparison identified some features that could be adopted for our own builds and also some features which we ultimately decided were not fit for purpose or were unsuitable. |
1.4 |
A direct cost comparison of the Emergency One build with the existing HFRS design showed that the Emergency One costings were higher by £1524 per vehicle. This included some additional work found to be necessary by HFRS. |
1.5 |
The cost comparison indicates that prior to the adoption of new construction methods the HFRS Workshops fitout costs were £10668 less per batch of 7 new vehicles. |
1.6 |
Having taken some of the design features and adopted or adapted them for inclusion in the HFRS Workshops fitout, we were able to make savings of £901 per vehicle on previous HFRS fitout costs. |
1.7 |
The review of fitout methods and materials has resulted, when fitted out by HFRS Workshops, in a saving of £6307 per batch of 7 new vehicles. |
2 |
Conclusion |
2.1 |
The new construction methods are being incorporated into all future builds. |
