1. Summary:

    a) To approve a wide consultation phase with key stakeholders on Hampshire County Council's draft Strategic Priorities For The Visitor Economy 2007-2012

    b) To accept a final version of Hampshire County Council's Strategic Priorities For The Visitor Economy 2007-2012 at the Executive Member for Economic Development's Decision Day in June 2007 for implementation by Hampshire County Council and its partner organisations

2. Reason

2.1 These decisions will support the following Corporate Strategy aims

    1. Maximise wellbeing

    · By providing fair and equal access to information through enhanced information provision

    · Reducing income disparities through increased visitor spend into the economy

    · Sustaining cultural infrastructure and visitor attractions through increased visitor spend

    2. Enhancing quality of place

    · Sustaining rural services through visitor spend eg public transport, village shops and pubs

    · Promoting sustainable practices such as encouraging public transport and green tourism

3. Other Options considered and rejected:

3.1 Not to develop Hampshire County Council's Strategic Priorities For The Visitor Economy 2007-2012

3.2 To not consult widely on the development of the Strategic Priorities.
