1 Summary

1.1 At its last meeting on 17 November 2006, the Panel noted that Derek Offord would stand down as employee representative on the Panel on 31 March 2007.

1.2 Phillip Reynolds, Head of Pay and Administration at Gosport Borough Council, had been nominated by UNISON as Mr Offord's replacement following consultations between the trade unions. The Panel agreed Mr Reynolds' appointment, subject to confirmation of his nomination by AMICUS and the GMB. This confirmation has now been received.

1.3 Mr Reynolds has a considerable knowledge of the Local Government Pension Scheme. He was Derek Offord's deputy and has attended both the Local Government Pensions Committee three-day `Fundamentals' course and a two-day course organised by the TUC.

1.1 The County Treasurer has also asked the trade unions for a nomination to serve at Mr Reynolds' deputy. This has not yet been forthcoming. The County Treasurer will continue to pursue this and update the Panel on any developments.

Recommendations

1 That Phillip Reynolds be welcomed to the Panel.

2 That the remainder of this report be noted.
