REPORT OF THE HAMPSHIRE POLICE AUTHORITY

APPOINTMENT OF NEW ASSISTANT CHIEF CONSTABLE

1. The Authority has appointed Mr David Pryde as its next Assistant Chief Constable Operational Services with effect from 30 April 2007.

2. Prior to joining Hampshire Constabulary, Mr Pryde was Chief Superintendent of Area Operations with Kent Police responsible for criminal justice, forensic science and volume crime performance. He was involved in the strategic management and development of that Force and was the Headquarters contact for operational and performance issues for the 6 Basic Command Unit Commanders.

3. He joined Kent Police in 1987 from the British Transport Police, has a BA in Economic History from Strathclyde University and a criminology diploma from Cambridge University.

4. With Hampshire Constabulary, he will have responsibility for call management, the Criminal Justice Department, and Force Custody and Identification.

5. From 1 October 2007, he will also take on responsibly for the Personnel and Training functions and his portfolio title will change to Assistant Chief Constable Personnel and Operational Services.
