The Toynbee School is located in a residential area on the edge of Chandler's Ford. The existing redgra sports pitch is in very poor condition and this report seeks approval to its replacement with a new synthetic turf pitch (STP). The proposal will maximise wellbeing for all users of the facility. | |

Recommendation | |
2.1 |
That the Executive Lead Member approves the proposal to replace the existing redgra pitch at The Toynbee School, Chandler's Ford, at a total estimated cost of £461,000, excluding fees. | |

Scope of the Works | |
3.1 |
It is proposed to overlay the existing redgra pitch to form a new, full-sized synthetic grass surface football/hockey pitch. | |
3.2 |
It is also proposed to provide floodlighting, a new 3.6m high galvanised fence with lower rebound fence and two sets of gates. A new drainage system will also be installed. | |

Funding and Timing | |

Subject to the necessary approvals it is anticipated that tenders will be invited during July 2007, work will commence on site during September 2007 and be completed during January 2008. | |

Councillor Colin Davidovitz, the local Member for this area, has been consulted on the proposals within this report and he has confirmed that he is supportive of the scheme. | |
Conclusion |

The proposed scheme will provide The Toynbee School with a modern, high-quality sports facility that can be used year-round. | ||
