1

    Summary

1.1

    The following decisions are sought:

    That approval be given to:

a) the sale of 'Merryfield', a surplus County Council property located on Inwood Road, Liss to Drum Housing Association as set out in this report;

b) the Director of Property Business and Regulatory Services, Head of Estates, settling detailed terms and conditions; and

c) reinvesting the capital receipt to fund essential fire safety work in the County Council's residential homes for older people.

2

    Reason

2.1

    i)

Enhancing our quality of place by ensuring that this surplus property is redeveloped in an appropriate way that contributes positively to the local environment.

    ii)

Maximising wellbeing by contributing to the continued supply of affordable housing in East Hampshire.

    iii)

Make Hampshire safer and more secure for all by providing a capital receipt which will be reinvested to fund essential fire safety work within the Adult Services residential homes portfolio.

3

    Other options considered and rejected

3.1

It is not believed that sale of the property on the open market would secure a higher capital receipt and would avoid additional costs for the County Council in relation to securing outline planning consent, marketing and officer's time.
