Summary

1.1

The following decision is sought:

That approval be given to the revised strategy, project timetable and funding arrangements for dealing with Treadgolds Museum as set out in the report and the Director of Property, Business and Regulatory Services (Head of Estates) to settle detailed terms and conditions related to the transfer of the property.

Reason

2.1

Hampshire County Council and Learning Links have agreed a partnership strategy which will deliver a centre for both social enterprise and a training venue, that seeks to maximise well-being for the local community through a range of support. The restoration and conversion of this structurally unstable and currently unusable property will enhance the overall quality of place within this conservation area of Portsea.

Other options considered and rejected

3.1

A range of options have been considered from complete renovation of all buildings and upgrading the museum exhibit, which is considered to be unaffordable, through to placing all of the collection in store and selling the Treadgolds Museum site for alternative uses, which is viewed as being a lost opportunity.
