Hampshire Constabulary and Dorset Police Collaboration Strategy 2007- 2010
The strategic forces agenda has encouraged collaboration between constabularies and in this framework, discussions have been held between the respective Chief Officer (ACPO) teams of the Hampshire Constabulary and Dorset Police.
A collaboration document has been drafted in general terms to demonstrate the commitment to work together where there is a clear business case and public benefit for so doing. Hampshire and Dorset already have significant operational links and a good history of collaboration which the Authority considers can be developed further to mutual advantage.
The document sets out the framework for identifying opportunities for collaboration and an initial work programme which included the 2012 Olympics and command resilience. The programme was not exclusive - both Forces and Police Authorities would be free to develop further collaborative arrangements with other parties.
The arrangements will be governed by a Programme Board comprising of the Chairmen and Chief Executives of both Police Authorities and the Chief Constables of both forces. Progress with the initiative will be reviewed in 12 months time.
