    No apologies for absence were received.

2. CHAIRMAN'S COMMUNICATIONS

    The Chairman welcomed all those who had come to present evidence to the Group and thanked them for giving up their time to support the scrutiny review.

3. TRANSPORT IN THE COMMUNITY - EVIDENCE FROM WITNESSES

    The Group received oral evidence from the following witnesses:

      · Councillor Hilary Ayer, Cabinet Member for Youth and Community and Gwil Williams, Community Access Officer from East Hampshire District Council on the Area Review process in their District, the problems young people in East Hampshire face in regards to travel and the scope for closer partnership working.

      · Greg Alexander of Rushmoor Voluntary Services in relation to their use of Hampshire County Council subsidies, the recruitment and training of volunteers and how information on public opinion should be gathered and used.

      · John Buckett, Priority C Action Lead for the Hampshire Local Area Agreement (LAA) and Keith Willcox, Head of Passenger Transport at Hampshire County Council on the Accessibility Strategy and the Local Transport Plan, and the progress and achievements of the LAA Action Areas for Priority C.

      · Councillor Melville Kendal, Executive Member for Environment, Hampshire County Council on his vision for transport in the community in Hampshire and the associated constraints and strengths.

    Members questioned the witnesses based on their written submissions, these appear as Appendices 1 to 5 in the Minute Book. The session was recorded and is store securely as part of the public record.
