1. Summary:
The following decision is sought:
a) To ratify the distribution of Local Area Agreement Grant for 2007-08
b) Subject to the County Council budget process, to approve an indicative initial allocation of no more than 50% of the previous year's allocation to each district council as the accountable bodies for their respective Crime and Disorder Partnership for year 1 of the Area Based Grant in order to ensure continuity of funding to prepare and deliver annual statutory assessments and delivery plans for crime reduction.
c) The County Strategy Group for Crime and Disorder be asked to advise the Executive Member for Policy Resources on how the remainder of the Home Office element of the ABG for 2008-11 can be most effectively used to support the achievement of county and local community safety priorities.
2. Reason:
2.1 Following final confirmation of the Local Area Agreement Grant for Hampshire for 2007-8, approval is required to confirm the allocation of funding streams to County Council Departments and external partners.
2.2 Given the late notification of the ABG settlement, an indication of the County Council's approach to the use of the Safe and Strong element of the grant is critical to the continuation of services for the prevention of crime and disorder, co-ordinated through statutory partnership arrangements.
3. Other Options considered and rejected: Not to approve these allocations
4. Conflicts of Interest declared by the decision maker or other Executive member consulted - none
5. Dispensation granted by the Standards Committee - none
6. Reason(s) for the matter being dealt with if urgent - none (
