Summary

1.1

This report provides an update about progress in developing the young people's inter-faith project.

1.2

This paper supports the Corporate Strategies (maximising well being and Hampshire safer and more secure for all) by supporting the Youth Interfaith project. The youth inter-faith forum addresses SACRE's responsibilities in relation to inclusion and diversity.

That SACRE notes the report and endorses the continued work of the project.

Background

Progress of the youth interfaith project is as follows:

3.1

A Youth Interfaith Sub-Group has been established and now meets separately from Hampshire County Youth Council

3.2

Work has been undertaken with this group to plan a Youth Interfaith Event on Saturday 12 July 2008 at the Winchester Discovery Centre

3.3

The group is also busy planning a 2009 Interfaith Calendar for launch at the above event

3.4

The group is pursuing possible funding source through the Alma Royalton-Kisch Trust

3.5

Work has been undertaken with young people from the Social Cohesion Projects and will soon be completed with all the participating schools.

3.6

Contact has been made with several members of Faith based organisations/communities. However, progress with this initiative is currently rather slow .
