1. Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought:

That the Rights of Way Diversions Policy approved on 27 June 2002 and revised on 24 October 2006 be rescinded in favour of guidelines in the form of those attached at Appendix 2.

2. Reason

2.1 The reasons for the adoption of the policy no longer apply; to encourage the making of improvements to the network; to put the County Council in a better position should legislation giving the owners of land used for agriculture a right to apply for a diversion be brought into force.

3. Other Options Considered and Rejected

3.1 Retaining the existing policy or adopting an alternative policy. The latter is not currently proposed but may become necessary if the number of applications received exceeds our ability to process them.

6. Reasons for the matter being dealt with if urgent - Not Applicable.
