Report of the Director of Recreation and Heritage

1. Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought:

That the Director of Recreation and Heritage be authorised to negotiate a level of funding to TAPs, as appropriate and up to a limit of 3,000, being a maximum of six months rental.

2. Reason

2.1 TAPs rent an office from Fairfields Arts Centre. The County Council funding to the company included and earmarked portion of the grant specifically to pay the rent. The company has notified the County Council that it is their intention to wind up the organisation as it is not able to trade beyond the end of the financial year.

2.2 In the light of the uncertainty of the future of TAPs, and in order to put boundaries on the County Council's necessary expenditure, it is considered prudent to take a negotiated position with regard to the rental payment, taking account of the process of wind up as it unfolds.

3. Other Options Considered and Rejected.

    None.

4. Conflicts of interest declared by the decision maker or other Executive Member consulted.

5. Dispensation by the Standards Committee
