Report of the Director of Environment

Amended Decision Sheet

Item 6

Contact: Ben Clifton, tel 01962 892879 email: [email protected]

1. Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought:

That the County Council consents to the proposal by East Hampshire District Council to increase car parking charges at off-street car parks as advertised, and agrees to the introduction of charges in Council car parks on Sundays for one year.

2. Reason

2.1 District and Borough Councils are required by legislation to seek the County Council's consent for the introduction of or variations to Parking Orders governing the management of off-road car parks. East Hampshire District Council has sought consent for a variation to the Order covering off-street parking charges. The variation is to increase charges in car parks and introduce charges on a Sunday.

3. Other Options Considered and Rejected

3.1 The option of refusing consent was considered but rejected on the grounds that the proposed increases will bring East Hampshire charges into line with other authorities.

3.2 The option of approving Sunday charges on a permanent basis was rejected because there is a need to monitor the impact on on-street parking.

4. Conflicts of Interest Declared by the Decision Maker or Other Executive Member Consulted - None.

5. Dispensation granted by the Standards Committee - None.

6. Reason(s) for the Matter being dealt with if Urgent - None.
