1 Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought:

1. That the Executive Lead Member for Children's Services (Education) approves the updated County Council Home to School Transport Policy as attached as Appendix I of this report.

2 Reason

2.1 This decision supports the following Hampshire County Council priority:

"Making Hampshire safer and more secure for all" - by providing a safe and secure journey to school for entitled children

"Maximising well-being" - by enabling entitled children to arrive at school able to benefit from the education being provided.

2.2 The decision supports the following Aims of the Children Act:

Staying safe; Enjoying and achieving;

3 Other Options considered and rejected:

3.1 There remain some initiatives, particularly Aiming Higher for Disabled Children, which could produce proposals that will affect the Home to School Transport Policy. However, now that the entitlement changes from the Education Act 2006 are being introduced this appeared to be the right time to circulate our updated policy.
