1. Summary
1.1. The following decision is sought:
That a grant of £500 be awarded towards the cost of the RAF Heroes Parade in Odiham on 14 June 2008.
1.2. Details of request
The Odiham Town Centre Manager Group is seeking a grant of £500 towards the RAF Odiham Heroes Parade taking place in The Bury on Saturday 14 June 2008.
The Parade will commence in the High Street, joined by the RAF Central Band, an assortment of vehicles and a Chinook flying overhead, and come to rest in The Bury. A short ceremony will then take place where all personnel will be presented with an engraved tankard and scroll. Over 12,000 visitors are expected to welcome the troops home.
Entertainment will follow in the afternoon with a children's performer, balloon race, face painting, lucky dip, Blues concert and much more. Costs for the day amount to £4,100, most of which has already been contributed by local councils and businesses.
The Recreation and Heritage Department is supportive of a grant being awarded. The local Member, Councillor Glen, has been contacted regarding this request.
