Research into the impact of Living Difference, the Agreed Syllabus, on attainment in RE

Katherine Wedell is a qualified and experienced RE teacher who has taught RE outside Hampshire for a number of years. She is experienced in carrying out research and has produced reports for other RE organisations.

Katherine is carrying out research on behalf of Hampshire local authority and SACRE.

She is planning to visit 20 schools from Infant, Junior and secondary phases. Her research involves interviews with RE managers and RE heads of department. She has visited 7 schools to date with positive results so far. Some of her initial observations about the impact of Living Difference include:-

    · Pupils use higher order thinking skills

    · Pupils develop a deeper understanding of concepts

    · Pupils are able to transfer their skills to other situations

    · Pupils recognise what they are learning and why they are learning
