Background Scrutiny of Ofsted Reports The group discussed some Ofsted reports that had been provided by Secondary schools. These were very positive and noted outstanding attainment in RE, use of higher order thinking skills and high quality teaching and leadership. Qualitative research into the effect of Living Difference on teaching and learning Katherine Wedell was invited to the meeting and she circulated the progress of her research to date (Appendix 1). She has visited a number of schools in Hampshire and interviewed RE Managers and heads of RE departments about the impact of Living Difference on pupils' learning in RE. This research will inform the next review of the agreed syllabus in September 2009. More effective monitoring of RE in Hampshire schools Members of the monitoring sub group have expressed concerns about the group's ability to fulfil its statutory role of monitoring RE in schools. Several strategies have been implemented (see Appendix 2) but these have proved to provide limited and sparse information. The group has been unable to make a secure appraisal of the RE provision across Hampshire . | |||
