Summary

1.1 The following decision is sought:

That approval be given to award tenders for new four year bus subsidy contracts for the Totton and Waterside area at a cost of £103,090 per annum in respect of services primarily provided for school children.

2. Reason

2.1 The current Totton and Waterside area bus contracts expire on 26 July 2008. This decision will enable the detailed planning for services primarily provided for school children in advance of the start of the new school year. Other Totton and Waterside area bus contracts have been extended to expire on 31 August 2008 whilst further tenders are sought.

3. Other Options Considered and Rejected

3.1 Extending these services until 31 August 2008 whilst other local services were re-tendered. This was rejected on the grounds of the desirability of finalising services primarily provided for school children well ahead of the new school year.
