Local Area Agreement (LAA)

The LAA is an agreement between partners in Hampshire and the Government to support

local Community Strategies relating to:

* healthy communities and older people

* safe and strong communities

* economic development

The partner bodies are:

Hampshire County Council (lead partner and accountable body)

All the 11 District Councils in Hampshire

Hampshire Police Authority

Hampshire Constabulary

Hampshire Fire and Rescue Authority

As accountable body, Hampshire County Council manages the distribution of grant paid

by the Government Office to the partners involved. The determination of sums due to

partners is carried out either by the Government Office or the partnership. In this context

the County Council acts as an agent to the partnership and only recognises its own share

of the LAA grant in its accounts.

The total amount of LAA grant received in 2007/08 was £9,838,017 of which the County

Council spent directly £7,289,189.
