REPORT OF THE

HAMPSHIRE FIRE AND RESCUE AUTHORITY

APPOINTMENT OF CHAIRMAN AND VICE-CHAIRMEN

The Authority has appointed Councillor M.F. Cartwright as Chairman and Councillors I.F.E. Beagley and R. Smith (Southampton) as Vice-Chairmen until the Annual Meeting in 2009.

IMPROVEMENT PLANNING REGISTER

1. The Improvement Planning Register provides a comprehensive "signpost" to the wide variety of improvement strategies, actions and activities that are being undertaken as part of the Authority's Fire and Rescue Service Plan and its supporting strategic and medium-term functional plans. It also provides a convenient tool for monitoring and demonstrating a commitment towards continuous improvement.

2. The Authority has recently adopted the latest version of the Improvement Planning Register. It includes items that have been identified as actions for improvement and refers to their current status. The Register is intended to make it easier to identify common issues, determine those which are high priority and monitor progress on their implementation. Day to day management of the Register is undertaken by the Performance Review Team at Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service. Since April, 2008, the Corporate Management Team, comprising of leading Members of the Authority and senior officers, have taken over regular review. Consideration is currently being given to a rationalisation of the Register so as to simplify and streamline the review process for the future.

3. Copies of the latest Improvement Planning Register are available in the Members' Rooms.
